On Saturday, July 16, hundreds gathered in the heart of downtown Cleveland to enjoy live music, food and drink pop-ups and other festivities amid lush greenery under a blanket of sunshine. With air conditioning.
In its ongoing efforts to transform Tower City Center, Bedrock, in collaboration with Cuyahoga Valley National Park (CVNP) and the Conservancy for Cuyahoga Valley National Park, unveiled Skylight Park, an indoor greenspace complete with picnic tables, real and artificial Midwestern foliage and a host of activities.
“Experience is at the forefront of everything we do at Tower City Center and Skylight Park perfectly complements the mix of retail, events and food & beverage offerings at the downtown shopping venue,” said Ivy Greaner, Chief Operating Officer at Bedrock.
The greenery, hand-selected and native to Ohio, includes the Eastern Purple Coneflower and the Black-eyed Susan, and is complemented by CVNP and the Conservancy for Cuyahoga Valley National Park’s “Mindfulness Moments,” encouraging quotes and mantras intended to allow visitors a moment to pause and reflect.
We are excited for people from across the region to enjoy this innovative urban park that celebrates the value of green space for health, wellness and education,” said Donté Gibbs, Vice President of Community Partnerships at the Conservancy for CVNP.
“Parks are for the people,” says Lisa Petit, Superintendent of Cuyahoga Valley National Park. “And efforts like this that create equitable access to green space are incredibly important.”
